Critical Essay on a Case Study using the Circles of change Model

Two: Joan’s family

A mother is a single parent with two children, Joan is 10 years old and her brother Jey is 4 years old. Concerns about this family were first raised by the school when the children were having very poor school attendance. Despite several attempts by the school staff to encourage the children to come to school, their attendance at school continued to be very irregular. When the children did manage to attend school it was noted by their teachers that the children appeared neglected because of their unkept appearance and seldom had any food for lunch. Jey’s teacher also noted that Jey was very withdrawn when he did attend school. The mother has been called in by the school a number of times but never turns up for the meetings.

The child and family liaison officer is asked to do a home visit and on his/her initial visit to the family learns that Joan has recently left a violent relationship. Her mode of coping with the separation and trauma of the violence inflicted upon her is to use alcohol in ever-increasing amounts. She is finding it increasingly difficult to provide basic care and get the children to school. Her 10-year-old daughter (Jessica) is staying up late and is acting as a companion for Joan. Jessica tells you she is finding it very difficult to get up for school and get her brother and her ready so most of the time they just don’t go. Jessica also tells you she is worried about her mother as she is scared that her father may come back and hurt her again.

CASE STUDY-Using the Circles of Change Model (COCR

Circles of change model is: If the notion of social construction or historical constitution is to be fully understood then it is important that we think about how something can be a social construction. The best way to do that is to engage in critical reflection. The model of critical reflection to be used in this course is the Circles of Change Model Revisited (Macfarlane, Cartmel & Casley 2013).
Submit a critical essay using these headings as a guide only but integrating them as one flowing essay DO NOT HEADLINE EACH SECTION UNDER THESE NAMES

Deconstruct – What is happening here? Describe the issue(s). Pull apart the thinking around the issue(s) and closely exam where the notions are coming from. Examine what may be described as ‘normal’ or the taken-for-granted notions around the issues you have described.

Confront – What challenges your thinking? Approach the issues that are challenging you head-on by examining the ideas that are accepted but rarely questioned. What assumptions might be made?

Theorise: To help you get a better understanding of the issue(s) draw on relevant theory and literature. (MINIMUM 5 REFERENCES) Describe the multiple perspectives presented in the theory and literature around the issues presented in the case study.

Case Management Plan

Format: no specified format.

Referencing – in-text and bibliography: APA 6th edition style.

Students will need to;

create an original ‘case study’ and
develop a management plan based on the case study
The case study you create (approximately 250 words) should involve a child with an emotional or behavioural disorder which is causing significant behaviour problems in a real or hypothetical scenario. The case study should be based on as real a scenario as is possible – use research, actual practical experience, or discuss with classroom teachers with whom you have contact.

The behaviour management plan you develop (approximately 1,750 words) should be one which is able to be implemented in a “real life” situation and should offer a teacher (and school) the best opportunities of improving outcomes for the child represented in the case study.

It is important that you ensure that the decisions you make will take practical classroom implementation into consideration. You will need to be aware of your own developing ‘personal teaching philosophy’ which will evolve as you consider your personal contexts and attributes and as you explore teaching philosophies introduced in this unit (and other units).

You may refer to ‘individual education plans’ when developing your behaviour management plan, but do remember that many of these are quite general in nature.

You may include a range of support materials in an appendices section if you wish.

There are a number of issues which you need to demonstrate understanding of and these include (but are not restricted to);

context (age, gender, school, neighbourhood, etc.)
types of behaviours demonstrated
nature of disorder(s) being case managed – with relevant “evidence” of diagnosis or lack thereof
hypothetical school and home history of student
examples of situations in which the student finds him/herself and triggers which lead to problems
research underpinning all recommendations made
consider feedback, monitoring, evaluation and adjustment to the plan
Marking Rubric:

Work is complete, with both Case Study and Management Plan being included. Length is appropriate – with a word limit of no more than 2,200 words
The Case Study and Management Plan is entirely realistic. They provide a usefully detailed analysis of the child’s situation and provide a realistic plan which could be successfully implemented in a mainstream classroom
All elements of the assessment instructions (above) have been incorporated into your assignment
There is clear evidence of good research and referencing has adhered strictly to the APA sixth edition format
The assignment is well organised, succinctly presented, grammatically correct, and all syntax and spelling is correct.

case study questions for Computers and Society

Read the instructions carefully and answer the following questions. Instructions: 1- Each question should be answered in a short paragraph. 2- Note that I am particularly picky in how you use sources for your answers to case studies. I want YOUR words. You may quote to illustrate a point, but you must make that point in your own words. Any quotes must be marked. 3- I will attach the chapter that is required to answer the questions in a doc. format, in addition to the questions that needs to be answered. I’m not sure how many pages it will be but since each question requires short answer paragraph I say two pages would be enough, or a little more!

the main effects of these recessions that is namely, unemployment

1. This is a group project; groups of 3 or 4 students will carry out this project. Please form groups by providing me with names and Student ID numbers and Course Code
( DT365 Group A/B/C or DT399) of all members of groups by email to siobhan.mccarthy@dit.ie by Wednesday 21st of October (your last lecture before reading week). I will send a confirmation email, please email again if you do not receive this. ANY STUDENT NOT SIGNED INTO A GROUP BY LATEST IN YOUR LAST LECTURE BEFORE REVIEW WEEK ON WEDNESDAY 21ST OF OCTOBER MUST COMPLETE AN INDIVIDUAL PROJECT ON THEIR OWN. ANY STUDENT ADDING THEMSELVES TO AN EXISTING GROUP WITHOUT EMAILING ME WILL NOT BE ELIGIBLE TO BE GRADED AS PART OF THE GROUP AND MUST COMPLETE AN INDIVIDUAL PROJECT ON THEIR OWN. Any individual student can complete the project on their own by choice but only with prior consultation with myself

2. Please note all projects must include proper references NOT ONLY AT THE END OF THE PROJECT BUT WITHIN THE PROJECT, please consult the Style Guide. Projects will be penalised if proper referencing procedure is not adhered to.

3. The final project should not exceed 5000 words in length. However any graphical analysis and interview transcripts will not be included in limit. The group will be required to hand up the project in your assigned lecture on Monday 2nd of November to Siobhan Mc Carthy in person, any project given any time after this will incur late penalties as lay out in the student handbook. All members of the group must sign their work in on Monday 2nd of November.

4. Worth 50% of overall grade and the project should be typed. It is vitally important that this is a group project, each student must work on the project, if any group member is not working or goes missing, contact me ASAP.

5. Please state the degree code that is DT365 or DT399 on the front of the project for each group member. Please list the group members names and student IDs on the front of the project as well.

6. ANY COPYING WILL BE TREATED VERY HARSHLY. STUDENTS SHOULD NOTE THAT THIS CAN AND DOES INCLUDE EXCLUSION FROM ALL EXAMINATIONS FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE ACADEMIC YEAR AND EXCLUSION OR REFERRAL FROM THE RESUMPUTION OF STUDIES

7. Each group member should keep a saved copy of the final version of the project. All material must be saved on a computer’s hard drive and several USB Keys. Students should note that difficulties often arise at the final stages of the project such as virus of keys/disks, corruption of keys/disks, loss of keys/disks and often difficulties as too many students have left printing to the last minute. The only way to avoid this is to keep many copies and leave yourself time for printing.
The causes and effects of the 1973-1987 recession in Ireland are still widely debated and the causes and effects of the most recent recession (2008 recession) in Ireland will be debated for many years to come. This project will focus on these recessions and one of the main effects of these recessions that is namely, unemployment. This project should be solely based on Ireland.

Each project should have a good structure
1. Introduction
2. Briefly compare and contrast the economic recession 1973-1987 and the most recent recession 2008 onwards in Ireland in terms of the effects of these recessions
3. Review the trend in unemployment in Ireland since 2008? Do you think the recent decrease in unemployment will continue. Why/ Why not?
4. If you were Minister for Enterprise and Employment, what NEW policies would you focus on to reduce the unemployment rate further in 2015. Review any problems that might be associated with such policies
5. Review one subcategory (type of people by subcategory for example occupation, education level, age, geographical location etc) which have a higher than average rate of unemployment currently in Ireland. Outline why your chosen subcategory has difficulty in attaining employment in your opinion.
6. Two or more interviews with people with personnel/professional knowledge of the subcategory above, this could include for example member(s) of the subcategory. The interview topic is the current high unemployment rate for this subcategory in Ireland. Write a summary of the interview findings including what new information your group learned from carrying out the interviews. Place the transcripts including interviewees’ contact details at the back of the project. (Each group must interview different people and you should not share interviewees)
7. The groups’ own insights, policy recommendations and ideas about the topic this should include the following (a) What lessons were learned from 1973-1987 and 2008 recessions? How do you think has this effected current economic polices (b). Do you think any of the causes of the recent 2008 recession remain in place and do you think these causes could slow/halt Ireland’s economic recovery, (c) briefly outline future challenges, in your opinion, for the Irish economy

Common mistakes made by students that lead to overall lower grade
1. Referencing: Lack of proper referencing will impact your grade All sources must be referenced in accordance with the Style Guide available on webcourses, this will be reflected in the achieved grade.
2. Be careful to use good quality sources as there is extreme opinion about the economics especially for far right and far left political parties, always check which organisation established websites you are quoting, avoid quoting from political view point websites, Wikipedia and blogs and stick to well established neutral/independent organisations/commentators. In the words of Upton Sinclair ‘It is difficult to get a man to understand something when his salary depends on his not understanding it.” Therefore be careful to check which organisation is paying the bills for the website you are looking at.
3. A common mistake is for students to use a limited number of sources for example one section is all based on one/limited source(s) or word-for-word from one/limited number of website(s), this will result in a poor grade for this section/overall project. An important part of the project is to find and locate good reference material for this project and your work will be graded accordingly therefore no project/ or section of a project should not be over-dependent on limited number of sources
4. Although not advisable some groups divide up the project and do not read each others’ work and therefore either repeat or contradict points made in previous sections, this again can reduce your overall grade
5. This project should be solely based on Ireland, therefore any material not about Ireland will not suitable

Case Study which discusses the provision and coordination of person-centred care

Case Study Instructions: 1500 words

• Utilise the Clinical Reasoning Cycle (a clinical decision making framework) to plan and evaluate person-centred care.
• Considering the person`s situation, collect, process and present related health information.
• Identify and prioritise at least three (3) nursing problems/issues based on the health assessment data that you have identified for the person at the centre of care.
• Establish goals for priority of nursing care as related to the nursing problems/issues identified.
• Discuss the nursing care of the person; link it to assessment data and history.
• Evaluate your nursing care strategies to justify the nursing care provided
• Reflect on the person`s outcomes.

Guide:

• The content in the case study matches the outline presented in the introductory paragraph. Paragraphs are organized, and there is a logical progression of ideas so that content flows from one paragraph to the next. The case study ends with a rational conclusion.
• Comprehensively defines and discusses the provision of ethical, legal, evidenced-based, holistic person centred care, including the establishment of realistic and relevant goals. Includes relevant discussion on the collection, processing and presentation of client/patient information. Clearly identifies and prioritises nursing issues/problems.
• There is evidence of both depth and breadth of reading. A considered argument related to nursing care and issues/problems is presented, and is supported by adequate and appropriate evidence.
• The writing is organized into paragraphs, and the information is organized appropriately within the paragraph. Each paragraph relates to discrete idea. There are clear linking sentences that link each paragraph to the next.
• Credible and relevant references are used. Accurate use of APA referencing style in all instances. A range of in text citations has been used.

Case Study: Rentall Trucks

:
Develop the vector of initial state probabilities reflecting current market shares.
This will be entered as your starting values in time period 0 in the cells outlined in red
Develop two transition matrices — one for business as usual and one for the new policies
These will be entered in the transition matrix cells outlined in red
The formulas in cells B6:D20 will populate once you enter the inital states and transition probabilities.

And Answer the following Questions
1. What will the market shares be in one month if these changes are made? If no changes are made?
2. What will the market shares be in 3 months with the changes? Without the changes?
3. If market conditions remain the same, what market share would Rentall have in the long run? How does this compare with the market share that would result if the changes were not made? How many periods does it take to reach long-run equilibrium?
4. Generally, does it appear that the changes in business policy would be financially defensible given the market share results you have obtained?

Case Analysis: Fiat and Fairness – Why China can build cities overnight and India cannot

The analysis should start with a brief executive summary including the main arguments/findings. Arguments need to be well-supported by evidence from the case. A good case analysis: is well structured and well written & has clear arguments backed with evidence & engages critically with the evidence provided in the case.
Since this is case analysis for a Master of Public Policy degree. Please use scholarly and reliable references.

Case Study Analysis

Some questions to think when doing your Harvard Business Framework:
1. How does Studio unleash ecommerce sales?
What should we do with existing website store?
What should we be doing with the website.
Where else should we be to attract the entire “Maker” marketplace?

Individual Assignment – Case Analysis the current situation;

Identify key problems;
Develop and evaluate alternative courses of action, and;
Select a course of action and suggest appropriate strategies and tactics to accomplish the chosen course of action.
Analyzing the Current Situation – The proper context must be established for the case analysis. You should summarize key environmental factors such as industry trends, level of competitiveness, customer perceptions, legal considerations, and evolving technology at the outset of their analysis. Often, it is enlightening to summarize the external environment in terms of opportunities and threats to the firm being studied. There should also be some assessment of the internal environment of the firm in terms of strengths and weaknesses. Assumptions are frequently made in case analyses, and your interpretations of the current operating environment are crucial in determining the validity of these assumptions.

Identification of Key Problems – Sales management is not practiced in discrete sub-functions, and most of the cases are related to several functional areas. I encourage a problem definition that encompasses the interactive nature of sales management decision making. Ensue you are identifying the underlying problem and not just the symptoms of this problem.

Identify and Evaluate Alternatives – You will develop reasonable alternatives and evaluate them in terms of feasibility, projected costs advantages, disadvantages, and potential short term and long term consequences. Make sure you are not proposing utopian solutions that would be financially impossible to justify. On occasion, an analysis will generate a solution with only one reasonable alternative and offer several other pitifully weak alternatives in an attempt to make it appear that rational analysis has taken place. I feel that the cases generate more
than one alternative on almost all the issues presented and that you should be expected to describe more than a single alternative.

Select a Course of Action – A course of action should be explicitly stated and the appropriate strategies and tactics to accomplish the chosen course should be discussed. Often, charting a course of action can be a difficult job, but implementation is the true challenge. Since you will be stopping short of the actual implementation, you should be aggressive in your case analysis to produce a workable action plan that would have a reasonable probability of success in the implementation phase.

This assignment represents 25% of your grade. The length requirement (2,000 to 2,500 words) only applies to the body of your document – the title page, addendums, reference pages, and similar examples will not count towards the length of your assignment. I expect you o use at least four other sources besides your textbook.
