What would Spike Lee do?

Pierre Delacroix .a character obviously representing the assimilated black man who has had his blackness all but educated out of him. But does this make him less black? e guy is antv execHe has a job to do he hes to come up with a hit show so the property value of their adspacewil go up. Hes not an independent film maker who can shit out a bunch of points he wants to make and display the jugemental arrangements say its art so shut up

Manray?Womack?Sellouts? No, I’d describe them more as let’s say, HUNGRY.Theres not enough free will involved for these guys to be judged

. Regardless of what Lee intended what he’s done is made a movie about how it bothers him when black people don’t handle their blackness properly. While Lee is a Black Icon, he is not chairman of the board of directors of blackness and culture. I’m not black but I can see that lee is suggesting that all of the characters in the movie are bad for business in regards to the future of black culture. If spike lee lived in a world where all black americans handled their blackness in a way he approved of,I don’t know how much culture would be involved at all . Malcom and Martin had very different ways of confronting the same situation. What are white americans supposed to understand about black culture? not black history, but what being black is about today. If spike leescaracterpierredelacoix played bydamonwayans

Thinking Radically

Thinking Radically

When you are right, you cannot be too radical; when you are wrong, you cannot be too conservative. -Martin Luther King, Jr.

Radical thinking results in experimentation beyond the norms set by society. Radical thinking results in the invention of ideas beyond our wildest thinking. To think radically you must transcend the conventional, even reform conventional thinking.

For this essay first, choose a topic to write about. Then let your topic invite you into its realm. Become that topic, idea, piece of art, that skyscraper, landscape, poem, or song. Live it. Breathe it. Understand its every nuance. Explore its exterior and interior. Love its faults. Adore its strengths. Then, determine what you might write about it. Communicate to your audience that which you have come to know better than yourself. Let your imagination soar to its highest. Release your inner voice.

To accomplish this remember that throughout this course you have learned and applied ways to communicate about yourself and your world by observation, analysis, argument, evaluation, exploration, and research. Try to think radically as you stir together all of the skills you have learned in this course to examine your topic. Try new approaches as the students in the coffee shop do in their collaborative writing. Try new ways of thinking as you explore a topic inside out and upside down. Try to examine all the dimensions of your topic to come up with a compelling, radical, different, and extreme argument. Finally, appropriate word choice, rhythm, repetition, sentence structure, and the tempo of your language all contribute to voice in writing. All writers have distinctive voices, an inherent quality of the individual writer’s style, talent, and vision.
Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic. – Arthur C. Clarke

System Analysis and Design

Tasks: Read the following scenario, understand and present your response in a document with 3 pages.
Description of the Organization:

XYZ University is an Educational Institution that aims to provide Quality education to the Omani students. It offers Diploma, Bachelors and Master’s program in all Engineering Discipline. The following narrative partially describes its Student admission system.

Scenario:
The University approves any new programs and specializations through the Admission Office. The Admission Office plans the following activity to create awareness among students, it forwards the Programs and Specialization available to the Public-Relations Office (PRO) to advertise through newspaper, TV etc., the same and publish the last date for getting the application forms. The PRO will report the admission office with the budget and a forecast on the number of students who will be seeking admission to store in the budget file for accounting purpose.

The Admission manager provides PRO with a list of industries which can be contacted to have Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the university to educate the Industry employees. The PRO conducts training and campaigns to those industries and provides their industrial forecast to the admission office.

As per the MOU, to seek Admission in the university, the Industry has to send a list of Industry students who wish to study, together with a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to the admission office. Upon receiving those applications, the Admission manager shortlist the candidates based on merit and send the selected students list to the industry. He will keep the students personal and academic profile as well as the NOC to the Industry students file.

In addition to the above admission procedure, the students can buy Application forms from the Admission Office’s store and submit the same to the clerk in the same department.
The clerk in the Admission department filters the application based on eligibility for the courses and prepares acknowledgement forms. Eligible students will receive the acknowledgment form. The clerk also forwards the eligible application forms to the Registration office to shortlist students for interview based on merit. The Secretary in the Registration office receives those applications and prepares the merit list. The students were allotted with specializations based on his ranking in the merit

list. The Merit list is forwarded to the Admission Office. Students will be informed about their specialization through mail.

Once a student was allotted with a specialization he has to pay the admission fee to the Admission office for which they will be provided with a receipt after which the student’s admission is confirmed. The Admission Clerk prepares the paid-student list which contains students who paid the admission fees and forwards one copy of the list to registration office to check the originality of the students’ academic records. Another copy of the students list is forwarded to the academic department to prepare timetable which will be notified to the students by the admission department.

In cases where a student wishes to change the specialization allotted to him, He has to send a change specialization form to the Admission office. The Admission manager receives the change form and checks for eligibility by referring to the student’s academic profile from the student file. If found to be eligible, he sends a copy of the change specialization form to the academic department to check for seat availability. If the student is not eligible his request will be rejected and he will be sent a rejection letter.

Upon receiving the change specialization form, the Secretary of the Academic Department checks if seat is available for the claimed specialization, if available he responds to the Admission manager with a change confirmation form which is forwarded to the requested student. If seat is not available he sends a rejection letter which is again forwarded to the student.

The Role of Humorists in Society

The Role of Humorists in Society

Paper instructions:
I have to write 800-1200 word essay due Wednesday on the role of humorists in today’s society.

PROMPT:
Alain de Botton argues that the chief aim of humorists is not merely to entertain but “to convey with impunity messages that might be dangerous or impossible to state directly.” Because society allows humorists to say things that other people cannot or will not say, de Botton sees humorists as serving a vital function to society.

ASSIGNMENT:
Think about the implications of de Botton’s view of the role of humorists (cartoonists, stand-up comics, satirical writers, hosts of television shows and online broadcasts, script writers, comic actors and actresses, etc.). Then write an essay the DEFENDS de Botton’s claim about the vital role of humorists.

My thesis is:
Humorists role in society is to make jokes about serious subjects that would usually be uncomfortable to talk about; world events, stereotypes, and divorce.

I have to use 2 quotes from the following articles/movies we read/watched in class:

-Are the Rich Happy? by Stephen Leacock
-A Modest Proposal by Jonathan Swift
-Corn-Pone Opinions by Mark Twain
-Seven Deadly Sins Committed at a Church Bake Sale by The Onion
-Mrs. Doubtfire (the movie)
