the different ways that managers and leaders use communication to guide their organizations

For this assignment, you will research the different ways that managers and leaders use communication to guide their organizations. BBA , Organizational Communication 5 Feel free to use the same organization you researched for the Unit VI Case Study. You are not limited to this organization, but it may be easier to complete the assignment since you have already researched the organization in Unit VI. You can use the same sources for both assignments, if applicable. Find an instance where the organizational leader communicates directly with his or her employees, investors, or customers. Analyze the message, the channel, and the potential for feedback. Do you believe that it is effective? Do you believe that it is the same type of message that a manager would send? Why, or why not? Remember to focus on the communication styles of both leaders and managers. Strive for an equal balance between the two types of communication styles in your assignment. Example: The Apple events that occur in Cupertino whenever Apple unveils a new product or service are examples of the type of communication you should be analyzing in this assignment. During the events, CEO Tim Cook addresses an audience of employees, investors, and the general public. Cook uses multiple channels to communicate with the audience, including a live face-to-face discussion, live streaming of the discussion, and a recorded video. For the assignment, you would view one of the events, analyze Cook’s message and the effectiveness of the channels, and discuss the potential for feedback. Analyze whether or not the message is an effective example of leadership. Explain whether or not you believe a manager could, or should, use the same types of channels to relay a message. Would it be effective? Note: You do not need to use Apple for this assignment. It is provided as an example only. Use the standard five-paragraph format (introduction/body/conclusion). Include at least two academic sources. APA format should be used. The assignment should be a minimum of two pages in length, not including the title and reference pages. Content, organization, and grammar/mechanics will be evaluated.

A Worn Path by Eudora Welty

Theme Analysis Essay over A Worn Path by Eudora Welty
Purpose: To critically examine and analyze the overarching themes of a story. According to Perrine, “The function of literary writers is not to state a theme but to vivify it.” Structure: You are going to take A Worn Path by Eudora Welty and discuss at least 2 themes you found throughout the story. This should resemble an academically structured essay, not just a stream of consciousness. It is strongly encouraged to use something similar to a 5-paragraph structure. There are no right or wrong answers…you are using your critical thinking and reading skills to come up with your own ideas about how specific themes are present in the story of your choosing. You must have sufficient proof of why your ideas are right. Use the story and cite phrases that back up your ideas frequently. This is not a summary of the story! Be sure you are interpreting and analyzing. You will put meaning into themes of the story. Your essay should also contain a properly formatted MLA Works Cited page. You are required to have one source, the Perrine textbook. Remember that if you have a source listed in the Works Cited page, it must be present as an in-text citation in the body of the essay and vice versa. Audience: You are writing for someone who has read the stories and wants to know more about your perspective. Logistics: • Double-spaced, titled, Times New Roman, 12-point font, 1-inch margins, MLA formatting. • A minimum of 4 full pages of writing not including Works Cited page. • Only one source is required, the Perrine textbook. • Academic language should be used throughout this essay, but you may have instances where first or second person statements may be applicable. o Omit slang, jargon, casual, conversational, or curse words. o Omit questions from academic writing.

Should the government enact more laws to prevent and combat online falsehoods?

Should the government enact more laws to prevent and combat online falsehoods?
Question Formation of Select Committee on Deliberate Online Falsehoods “The threat of deliberate online falsehoods, or more popularly fake news, has to be taken seriously. Other countries have suffered coordinated attempts by foreign state actors or other organisations to manipulate public opinion and influence elections, undermine social cohesion and even incite violence. We cannot discount similar attempts by unfriendly countries or organisations to hurt Singapore and Singaporeans.”—Eugene K. B. Tan, Associate Professor of Law at the School of Law, Singapore Management University, writing for The Straits Times, January 16, 2018. Due to the real and serious challenges posed by online falsehoods, the Singapore Parliament had appointed a Select Committee to examine and report on: (1) The phenomenon of digital technology to deliberately spread falsehoods online; (2) The motivations and reasons for spreading such falsehoods, and the types of individuals and entities, both local and foreign, which engage in such activity; (3) The consequences that the spread of online falsehoods can have on Singapore society, including to our institutions and democratic processes; and (4) How Singapore can prevent and combat online falsehoods, including; (i) The principles that should guide Singapore’s response; and (ii) Any specific measures, including legislation that should be taken. The public had been invited to make submissions to the Select Committee on these issues and public hearings have been conducted. There has been much debate on these issues. One of the issues is with regards to further legislation to prevent and combat online falsehoods. The two articles provided below reflect some of the debate regarding this issue. Should the government enact more laws to prevent and combat online falsehoods? In about 1000 words, write a persuasive argumentative essay defending your position in order to argue for your particular stance on this issue. Other than providing supporting arguments for the position you take on this issue, you MUST anticipate objections and provide counterarguments to write the paper. Relevant information for you to gather would be: (1) Definition of online falsehood (2) Issues (political, economic, social, legal or etc.) surrounding the enactment of additional laws to prevent and combat online falsehoods (3) Arguments for the enactment of additional laws to prevent and combat online falsehoods (4) Arguments against the enactment of additional laws to prevent and combat online falsehoods Guidance Notes 1. Your reasoning must be good. 2. Strengthen your argument with relevant examples and illustrations. 3. You may include any additional but relevant information to the ideas that have already been given in the scenario and articles. 4. You should use at least 7 research sources to help you write your essay. The given articles are considered as a separate research source each and can count towards the 7 research sources. 5. You are to use credible and reliable sources to help you write this essay.

Field interview

No directly quoted material may be used in this project paper. Project 2—Field Interview: Overview As part of your role as a system-based advocate, you have been asked to assess the officers’ and other community based partners’ understanding of crime victims’ rights through conducting various surveys and individual interviews of cadets that have recently completed the academy. For your Project 2 you will be interviewing one person in the allowable categories and providing a narrative summary of your analysis of the interviewee’s understanding of the crime victims’ rights movement and the history and evolution of this movement over time. This analysis will be provided in a 3-5 page paper that addresses the required questions and analysis below. Project 2—Field Interview: Description Allowable interviewee categories: Representative of a victim service organization (can include a victim advocate, case manager, or crime victims’ rights attorney); Prosecutor (within the civilian criminal justice system); Law Enforcement (within the civilian criminal justice system); Judicial Officer (requires that they oversee a criminal docket); or Defense Attorney (within the civilian criminal justice system). It is important that the candidate you select has enough consistent interaction with crime victims to offer you enough information for your analysis. Following your interview, write a narrative paper that explains your assessment of the person’s work and perspective/knowledge of victims’ rights. Include analysis on where their perspective is victim centered or could be improved. A large part of this project is for you to see what service providers and system players do on a day-to day-basis and analyze how it impacts their perceptions of victims and/or changes their interactions with victims. You must include at least five (5) citations to instructional course materials/reading assignments that you have accessed in the course. Incorporating these supportive references into your analysis is key to demonstrating what you are learning in the course and how it helped shaped your analysis during and after the interview. Required information to be included in the paper: Agency name Contact information for the agency Date the interview was conducted Agency mission/goals Name of person(s) interviewed Type of agency, type/number of staff, and status, e.g., nonprofit, government, faith-based Type of clients served Geographic area served General services provided by agency Challenges the agency faces The representative’s interaction with victims and the point at which she or he comes in contact with victims Agency activities during a “normal day” Required analysis to include in the paper: The required information is offered for you to use as the starting point for your interview. The following questions should be addresses somewhere in the analysis that you provide in your narrative: How does the interviewee view the role of the victim in the pursuit of criminal justice? What is the interviewee’s opinion of the efficiency and effectiveness of the prevailing victims’ rights laws in their jurisdiction? If there are no codified provisions for victims’ rights by statute or court rule, why do they believe no such consideration exists? To what does the interviewee attribute the absence or reluctance of victims to participate in the criminal justice processes? What is the interviewee’s understanding of crime victims’ rights and the history of this movement? Formatting Requirements: Project 2 should begin with an introductory paragraph and end with a concluding paragraph. The full narrative should be between 3 to 4 full pages (not including the Works Cited page that references in APA format the five (5) selected course materials you used). The layout should include double spaces, 12 pt. Times New Roman font, with one inch margins that include first line indentation.

Conceptual Components of Theory

Discussion – Week 4 COLLAPSE Conceptual Components of Theory As with research, concepts play a critical role in theory development. Consider for a moment the purpose of theory and its application to nursing practice. At the heart of any theory—which seeks to describe, explain, predict, or prescribe—lies the concept or concepts to be explored or addressed. Within the iterative process of theory development, concepts must be defined and refined as the relationships between them are identified in order to articulate “ reality” and inform effective practice. To prepare: Reflect on the information presented Learning Resources, including Chapter 4 of Theoretical Basis for Nursing. How and why do concepts serve as the building blocks of theory? Brainstorm a list of middle range theories that have been applied in nursing practice. Then, select one with which you are most familiar. If necessary, refer to Chapter 10 or 11 in the course textbook, Theoretical Basis for Nursing, for ideas. You may also conduct additional research using the Walden Library or other scholarly databases. Contemplate the various conceptual components of your selected theory, including how they are defined, linked to the real world, observed, and measured. By Day 3 post a cohesive response that addresses the following: Discuss the conceptual components of your selected middle range theory as applied to nursing practice. How are these components observed and measured in practice? Provide at least two specific examples. Share any insights into how the theory has developed or changed based on the testing of the concepts.
