In this activity, you will reflect on your own experiences of scientific management.
Your task
In your online study journal, write an entry answering the following questions:
• What examples of scientific management have you encountered in your workplace?
• Can you explain how the examples you provide link to the original ideas of Taylor, the Gilbreths or Ford?
• Have you been subject to the control of scientific management, or have you used it to control other workers?
• How useful and effective do you feel these techniques are?
• Can you explain how these ideas view the organisation as a set of building blocks or a machine?
