Whether you identify yourself as such or not, humans are lifelong learners by nature, ever expanding and advancing in knowledge. Learning itself is a process of change and inflation. As such, it is inevitable. When participating in physical exercise, muscles experience new learning.

Why are anthropologists so excited about finding evidence of burials or personal

Anthropolgy

1. Why are anthropologists so excited about finding evidence of burials or personal
adornment in the fossil record? Why is there a time lag between the appearance of
modern human morphology and the appearance of the complex symbolic behavior we
associate with modern humans? Is there an evolutionary explanation for this?
2. What role do popular misunderstandings about biology and genetics play in modern,
everyday conceptualizations of human differences and “race”? First identify two
misunderstandings and then explain how they could be dispelled using evidence from
modern paleoanthropology.
3. Consider the following statement, “The discipline of anthropology focuses on a biocultural
approach to explain human diversity, past and present.” How would you explain
this statement to someone unfamiliar with the discipline of anthropology? What
examples would you use?

. The division has the capacity to produce

Jokkmok Industries
Mr. Rosen is the manager of a division of Jokkmok Industries. He is one of several managers being considered for the position of CEO, as the current CEO is retiring in a year.
All divisions use standard absorption costing. The division has the capacity to produce 50,000 units a quarter and quarterly fixed overhead amounts to $600,000. Mr. Rosen has been looking at the report for the first three months of the year and is not happy with the results.
Division Income Statement
For the Quarter Ending March 31, 2013
Production: 25,000 units

Sales (25,000 units) $2,500,000
Cost of goods sold 1,800,000
———–
Gross profit 700,000
Selling & general expenses 350,000
Net income $350,000
The sales forecast for the second quarter is 25,000 units. Mr. Rosen had budgeted second quarter production at 25,000 units but changes it to 50,000 units, which is total capacity for a quarter. The sales forecasts for each of the last two quarters of the year remain at 25,000 units. Actual fixed costs incurred remain constant in total and variable costs remain constant on per unit basis.
Required:
Computations : Present in Excel Spreadsheet Format
• Convert the divisional absorption income statement to a contribution margin income statement for the quarter. Click here for an example showing how to convert from one approach to another. This example is for guidance only and the numbers have no bearing on Jokkmok Industries. You can also find several videos on YouTube that explain the difference between the two types of income statements.
• Prepare absorption and contribution margin income statements for the succeeding quarter for the division.
• Compute production costs per unit for both approaches and for both quarters.

Required Discussion Points: Present in Word Document Format

• Did Mr. Rosen improve his performance for the second quarter? Indicate the information you used for your assessment.
• Can you make any suggestions for reporting in the future?
• Do you think Mr. Rosen should be seriously considered for the CEO position? Why or why not?
• Discuss three shortcomings of the absorption approach for internal decision-making.

Amputation mishap, negligence cited.
by A. Lowell

Earlier this week, 62-year-old Joseph Benson underwent an amputation of his leg just below the left knee and only suffered one complication the wrong leg was amputated. Benson, a diabetic who suffered from poor circulation for the last five years, was shocked to wake up after his surgery and learn of the mishap. “I kept hoping that I was just dreaming, but I kept waking up to the same thing,” said Benson. Hospital staff at the Neighborhood Hospital have not officially commented on the case, but this incident comes at a dire time for the hospital, which has experienced quite an assortment of problems lately, from union problems to nursing shortages.

Research Topic and Preliminary Questions

Dissertation topic:

Impact of Parent-Child Relationship on Child Development

What are the potential relationships between the success rate or education level of a child and
growing up in a household with parents on drugs?
Potential relational questions to help you focus your topic and enhance your preliminary keyword
search:

1. What is the relationship between drug habits of parents and the life quality of their children?
2. How does the behavior of parents affect the potential of a child in succeeding through life?
3. Does the education of a child depend on the relationship between the child and the parent?
Keywords:

Children

Parent

Success rate

Education level

Family relations

Drug habit

Educational Significance of the Topic: This study is important as a tool for identifying the effect of
parent drug use on the development and success of children. It is my hope that the results will lead
to a better understanding of the relationships and can be used extensively in the field of counseling
for both parents and children.

Background of the Study: The adolescent stage of youth development is a critical stage of development.
Because youths adopt life decisions and characters from the relationships they have with their parents
and peers. Most teenagers whose parents have a drug habit end up dropping out of school and leading
unsuccessful lives. The need for this study is to identify the impact of drug habits from parents on
the quality of life of their children.

Reason for Interest in this Topic: Background of the Study: The adolescent stage of youth development
is a critical stage of development. At this stage, youths adopt major life decisions and characters
from the relationships they have with their parents and peers. Most teenagers whose parents have a
drug habit end up terminating their education and leading unsuccessful lives. The need for this study
is to identify the impact of drug habits from parents on the quality of children’s lives.

Reason for Interest in this Topic: The reason for selecting this topic for study is that I grew up in
a family with parents who were drug addicts. Notably, my mother was an addict of cocaine and this
affected me heavily. Despite my terrible upbringing, I managed to continue with my education. However,
most of my friends with similar family backgrounds were unlucky. They ended up being school dropouts
and leading extremely miserable lives around the same neighborhood. Their parents seemed to care less
about their progress in life. However, I observed that children from families with stable parents
rarely terminated their education. Most of them led very successful lives as their parents motivated
them to complete their education.

Whereas this research suggest that drug use among parents affects the education level and success rate
of children, my focus will be to establish the validity of this statement on an international level.
Special consideration will be on African American families due to prevalence of drug abuse around
their neighborhood to enable the research to be manageable. Data collection will also be limited to
recognized world organizations.
