Fostering Interdependence:
The term synergy is often used to describe a process whereby a group becomes more than the sum of its parts. Classrooms are places where synergy can thrive. However, creating truly collaborative assignments that foster interdependence and synergy can be a great challenge for educators. All too often, teachers use "group work" for tasks and assignments that many students could do just as easily on their own. Fortunately, there are proven methods for structuring truly collaborative assignments that require students to work together in order to succeed.
