Week 3-Assignment
Reading: Read the assignment material for the week. This week, the reading assignment is:
From the ‘Resources’ section, read Perry & Quarantelli (eds.) Parts II and III–Chapters 10 – 20.
Assignment: (1000 word paper) Provide an explanation of the important concepts that you research. Assume that you are writing for an uninformed reader that knows nothing about the topic and has not read what you read. (1) Provide an introduction that gives the background, purpose, and overview of the topic that you are reviewing, so the reader will understand what they’re reading and why. (2) Provide a body with a discussion of the topics organized with headings. (3). Provide a conclusion wrapping up the paper. See the templates in the Resources section. These are the requirements for inclusion in this week’s discussion:
– What is the relationship between disaster and stress? What is the difference between individual and collective stress and why is it important?
– What are the theses that Stallings puts forth in his work? How do the various respondents add and detract from his work? Which criticisms are valid and which not?
– Provide a summary of the discussions throughout the readings.
– How does this work inform the future research that is still required? What would be the value of that research?
DO NOT list out the topics or questions and answer them. They are not meant to be all-inclusive, and your reader will not understand the context. Rather, give an overview of the author’s entire body of work, using the topics as guidelines. Ensure that you meet or exceed the 1000-word target, and that your paper meets APA presentation requirements. Save the Microsoft Word document as [yourlastnameWkX] (e.g. SmithWk3) and upload the paper to the assignment. Scroll down and hit ‘submit’.
Rubric: Papers will be graded using the APUS graduate rubric, with attention paid to comprehension, depth of knowledge, and clear expression of ideas and arguments. Additionally, adherence to APA conventions will be required.
Objectives: This assignment supports course objectives: CO-2; CO-3; CO-4.
