Part 1

  • Choose one topic from each question to address. You should have 5 answers total when you are completed. BE SURE TO CITE SOURCES AND AVOID ENCYCLOPEDIAS/WIKIPEDIA!

Discuss the influence of African culture on a country in the Americas or a U.S. state.

2.Choose one of the following and answer in 6 sentences with examples, details, and citations-

Why was the French Revolution a critical event in the history of the anti-slavery movement?

OR

Discuss the long term impact of the 1848 Revolutions

 

3.Choose one of the following and answer in 6 sentences with examples, details, and citations-

Discuss how the Ottoman Empire maintained stability in the Middle East.

OR

Discuss one of the major programs developed as a result of the Great Depression.

 

4.Choose one to discuss in at least 6 sentences. Be sure to use academic sources and include citations!

How did World War II result in the Cold War?

Discuss the similarities between the Vietnam War and the Iraq War

 

Part 2 Pick one and answer in no less than 250 words

  1. What patterns of population change have unfolded since 1945? What do these changes suggest about the future of the planet?
  2. How has mass communication evolved since the late nineteenth century? What impact has it had on life in developing countries?
  3. How wide is the gap between the Third World rich and poor? How is this gap evidenced in contemporary Third World life?

 

Part 3

Option 1-

Research a program created due to the Great Depression. You may choose a program in the U.S. or one in another country such as the U.K.  Discuss how this program was meant to create relief from the Depression.  Next, discuss if this program or a similar one still exists.  If so, how does it work to prevent another Great Depression?
