Task Description:
Choose a murder case that was heard in the NSW Supreme Court within the last ten years and write a critical analysis of the decision in this matter.
** ******In your answer include the following:

PART A: A General Discussion of the facts of the case.
• What was the case about? Who were the parties involved in the case? In which courtroom was this case heard? Who was the judge, the offender\accused? What were the key facts presented in this case? Which legal issues did the court focus upon? What was the final decision of the court?

PART B: A Critical Analysis of the case, was justice achieved?
• Evaluate the effectiveness of the legal system in achieving justice for the victim, the victim’s family, the offender and society. In your answer also consider the purposes of punishment for criminal offences, issues of social inequality e.g. poverty or racial discrimination.

• You should choose a case that you understand and that is of interest to you.
